Bring Clean Water to a Malawian Village

On our September trip to Malawi, we watched kids cross the M1, Malawi’s main highway, to get clean water. We’re raising money to bring clean water to their side of the road.

Why the kids cross the highway

The nearest clean water is on the other side of the M1

The village on one side of the M1 has no clean water source of its own. The closest clean water is a well on the other side, so kids carry empty buckets across the traffic, pump the water, then carry the full buckets back across.

The M1 is Malawi’s main highway, and it’s crowded with traffic. Clean water on the village’s own side of the road means kids no longer have to make that crossing every time they need water.

Orant Charities has worked in rural Malawi for 20 years, and clean water is a core part of that work. The team on the ground is 100% Malawian, and they handle the drilling, the repairs and the hygiene lessons that go with each water project.

Gifts from this page go toward the new water system. If we raise more than it costs, the rest goes to Orant’s other clean water work. The progress bar at the top of the form updates with every gift. Secure card checkout by DonorPerfect.
