Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world with an average income of just $331 a year.
Despite the suffering, hunger, poverty, and disease that impact the country, Malawi remains the “Warm Heart of Africa”.
Poverty affects the very core of the people in Malawi, denying them basic human needs, like water and food, and sadly, a chance for a future. The impact of AIDS and malnourishment has dropped the average life expectancy to 54 years of age.
Orant Charities works in Dowa District, which is approximately 60 miles north of Lilongwe, Malawi's capital city. Our primary goal in Malawi is to create sustainable communities with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty.
