While you prepare for a short-term mission, you will have a lot of
questions, and rightfully so. You may have never traveled to another
country, much less a Third World country.
One of our jobs is to make this experience worry-free, and a good way
to start is to help you with the pre-traveling process. As we
schedule trips, this section will have all the information a traveler
will need while preparing for a trip to one of our host locations. We
will be able to answer every question you have, before you ask it.
This page will include information on how to get a passport, what
shots you will need, what to pack, current events of mission
locations, and anything else you might need.
As we finalize plans for our upcoming trips we will update this page
with specific details for each location. Keep checking back for
updated information.

Traveling to work with our Hosts in a foreign land can be difficult. We avoid exposing our guests to any unnecessary dangers by traveling to safe areas.
We will not bring our guests to countries or areas where political instability or general lawlessness exposes anyone to physical harm. We avoid these areas completely and lend our help and expertise to those in need in stable areas.
Before your trip even begins, we consider and plan for clean water, food, and exposures to insects, sun and heat or cold. Orant Charities provides each of our travelers with clean drinking water, with either bottled or filtered water. We also bring some supplemental food in case the meals offered locally do not provide enough calories to maintain your health.
Prior to your departure, Orant carefully details the correct clothing and gear needed to protect you from the sun, wind and insects in the area. We travel with mosquito netting in areas where the pests are common to help you be as comfortable as possible in these remote areas. Orant inventories all the supplies to protect you besides the personal clothing.
Our trips do require you to be in moderately good health and receive the proper vaccines before you leave for travel to certain countries. The specific medical requirements, gear check list, required visas and suggested vaccines are listed with each area of our mission destinations.
With communication critical to some travelers, we carry a satellite phone for use on all of our trips. When possible, we use our laptop computers to send e-mail and pictures back to your friends in the States to keep them up on your adventures and experiences. We will provide you with the necessary phone numbers before we depart so you can be reached or reach out if the need shall arise.
To help add security to our younger travelers, we require that two adults or more accompany teenagers to insure that an adult is never left alone with any child. Our leaders completed training in Child Protection and Safety to help keep children safe from others during the journey. We segregate our young adults sleeping arrangements so that males and females are in separate sleeping quarters with the appropriate adult supervision.
We welcome parents, teachers, Church members and other adults to help during the planning phase of our travels and greatly appreciate their help on our journeys. If you would like more information about being an active adult participant, please e-mail us with your aspirations.
